Press release The path from forest to floor Dinesen keeps a watchful eye on the value chain, subjecting the production of Dinesen’s exclusive flooring to strict quality assurance procedures from the moment a tree is felled until it has become part of the client’s finished plank floor. Dinesen sources its raw wood from the best European forests, which have been carefully tended and looked after for generations. The trees used for Dinesen Douglas are between 80 and 120 years old, while the oak trees were planted five or six generations ago, making them up to 200 years old. Dinesen has high demands with regard to quality and only receives the best part of the trunk, which is processed with the greatest possible respect for colour, growth rings and knots. “Manufacturing wood flooring at our high level of quality is like creating a meal at a gourmet restaurant. We need the finest raw materials and we need to know how they’ve been grown. Then, we need to treat the raw materials with passion, care and commitment in order for the rest of the process to succeed. Both the raw materials and our commitment are crucial to the final result,” explains Thomas Dinesen. A unique piece of nature The appearance of the planks depends on the age of the tree and its growth conditions – as well as the size, number and colour of the knots. The knots are the visible traces of the original branches that become part of the trunk as the tree grows. They are part of the tree’s history and give each plank its own unique appearance. Dinesen’s high quality is reflected in the thorough quality control that every single plank and every single knot in the wood is subject to. “It is natural for a more than 100-year-old tree to have a few knots that are no longer fresh. In such cases, the knot is removed and replaced by a suitable knot. This is one way in which Dinesen shows the respect that a 100-year-old tree deserves. And it means that those living with the planks can do so with a good conscience and can enjoy the excellent craftsmanship,” says Thomas Dinesen. The pleasure of delivering floors that have undergone strict quality control to the client is important to Dinesen. In fact, one of Dinesen’s defining qualities is that the entire process, from the moment the tree is felled in the woods until the finished floor is delivered to the client, is followed so closely. This guarantees that a Dinesen floor is always of the finest quality. www.dinesen.com For further information, please contact: Michael Schönwiese , PR Manager | T +45 7355 2558 | M +45 6040 4
