Introduction
Designtex introduces a range of sustainable materials showcased at NeoCon 2005, available from Fall 2005. These materials emphasize eco-friendly innovations in textile production.
Ingeo™
Ingeo™ is the first man-made fiber from 100% renewable resources, primarily corn. It is biodegradable and aims to use biomass in the future. Key designs include Empanada, Masa, and Tamale, each inspired by corn-related themes.
Eco-Intelligent™ Polyester
This material is free from heavy metals, making it suitable for reclamation. Notable designs include Cascadia, with a multicolored pattern ideal for office seating, and Greenbelt, featuring a basket weave structure.
Recycled Polyester with NANO-TEX™
Utilizes recycled PET from bottles and x-ray film, reducing waste and preserving petroleum reserves. Enhanced by NANO-TEX™ for spill resistance, designs like Epiphany and Skylark offer vibrant colorways and durability.
Zeftron® Contex Solution-Dyed Nylon with NANO-TEX™
This is the first contract textile combining nanotechnology with recyclable Nylon6. Patterns such as Alkai, Boreas, Muir, and Pattino offer rich textures and colors, with high durability exceeding 100,000 double rubs.
NANO-TEX™ Technology
NANO-TEX™ provides permanent water and oil repellency using nano-whisker architecture, enhancing fiber strength and stain resistance without affecting quality or recyclability.
Earthtex™
A sustainable woven wallcovering made from 100% TPO yarn, Earthtex™ is free from PVC and heavy metals, using less energy in production. It is designed for recyclability and high performance in various environments.
Conclusion
Designtex's innovations in sustainable materials demonstrate a commitment to environmental responsibility and advanced textile technology, offering versatile and durable solutions for various applications.
