The waterproofing membrane that captures CO2 Composition of the membrane The DERBICOLOR FR Olivine is a waterproofing membrane based on a selection of the best bitumen and high-quality APP-TPO plastomers with olivine grains as a finishing layer. The mineral olivine, a magnesium iron silicate, is one of the most common minerals on earth and has the capacity of capturing CO2 from the atmosphere. When it rains, the CO2 that is washed out of the atmosphere will react on contact with the olivine and will be transformed into two environmental friendly substances : silicon dioxide and magnesium carbonate. The DERBICOLOR FR Olivine membrane respects the environment by helping it to neutralize CO2. Environmental characteristics Capacity to capture CO2: 1 kg of olivine can capture 1,25 kg CO2.The membrane is surfaced with 1,4 kg olivine per m2, which gives it the capacity of capturing 1,75 kg of CO2. This waterproofing membrane is 100% recyclable.
