Raised in the naval town of Portsmouth, where massive concrete structures line the edges of the sea, Matthew Hilton has an appreciation for paradox - weight and weightlessness, anthropmorphism and abstraction. He is also attracted to the mark of age on robust materials like metal, stone and wood. TIMBER Matthew Hilton products are available in a choice of American Black Walnut or American White Oak. The timber we use is from sustainable farms in the United States. The trees on the farms are pruned regularly to allow for consistent grain patterns and fewer knots, ensuring exceptionally strong planks of the highest quality. Natural finishes embrace the inherent colour and grain variations in the timber, whilst providing a renewable surface for enduring beauty.
