The idea was inspired by the beating of a dragonfly’s wings and the shape comes from breaking down the phases of motion during the wing cycle, as if through stop frame photography.

Open the catalog to page 6The Celestial Series Corona Edition of 12 790 x 790 x 105 mm Inspired by the 2015 solar eclipse, Corona is designed to be used alongside other gentle ambient lighting to provide a calming mood to a room. The sunburst effect is created with 16 leaves of Wenge which have been bleached and then hundreds of tiny brush strokes of colour added, so that the brightness gently fades into the dark void. The central, subtly-domed piece in ebonised Oak, acts as a focal point for the eye.

The effect is created using 32 leaves of Wenge, which have been bleached and then carved to reveal its natural colour. It is one of the latest additions to the Celestial Series which focuses on the beauty of various cosmic phenomena. This sculptural mirror can be commissioned in various sizes.

Onda Strata 1190 x 126 x 90 mm Onda Strata progresses from the original Onda concept through the introduction of five additional layers creating a greater sense of movement. The inspiration for this piece, which is part of the Strata Series, came from a host of themes, combining the original wave idea with other organic forms found in nature.

It marries functionality with aesthetics in even amounts and captures both the playful agility of the seal with a colourful reference to its marine environment.

Open the catalog to page 15DESIGN SERVICE When clients commission new concepts, David relies heavily on computer aided design to both develop the ideas and help the client visualise what the final piece will look like. After the initial consultation with the client, his first design tool is pencil and pad, to create conceptual sketches. These are then synthesised into 3D computer drawings and renders which enable the client to picture the proposed creation.
