Glass Reinforced Cement

Glass Reinforced Cement

Product catalog summary
Introduction to Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC)
CCP offers sprayed GRC units that mimic the appearance of reconstituted stone but are significantly lighter due to their typical thickness of 10mm. The glass fibre used in GRC has a tensile strength over three times that of steel fibre, making it advantageous in weight-sensitive applications.
Types of GRC Units
CCP produces both sprayed and poured GRC units. Poured GRC units are versatile, serving as permanent formwork, channels, or pontoon decks filled with expanded polystyrene.
Design Flexibility
GRC allows architects and engineers to create ambitious designs, from modern futuristic forms to traditional historic features. It enhances the aesthetic quality of buildings while being easy to handle and erect.
Applications in Construction
GRC is ideal for residential construction, particularly for door surrounds and coping. It is also suitable for renovation projects due to its lightweight panels that minimize additional structural weight.
Benefits of GRC Cladding
  • Durability and quality finish comparable to reconstructed stone.
  • Suitable for areas with limited access due to its lightweight nature.
  • Improves buildability by eliminating the need for scaffolding or heavy cranes.
  • Accelerates construction time, unaffected by weather or labor shortages.

Glass Reinforced Cement-1

GLASSFIBRE REINFQRCED CONCRETE CCP can supply sprayed GRC units which will have the same appearance as reconstituted stone units, but as units are only typically 10mm thick, and hence much lighter than their reconstituted stone alternatives. The glass fibre has a tensile strength over three times stronger than steel fibre. GRC thus provides significant advantages where weight is a critical factor both in terms of its impact on the structural frame but also where access is limited and more lightweight units are required. CCP also produce poured GRC units which can be typically used as permanent formwork, channels, or pontoon decks filled with expanded polystyrene. GRC presents architects and engineers with a material from which the most ambitious designs can be created. It can be moulded to form modern futuristic designs or to replicate traditional historic features. With the ability to add a quality look and feel to a build and the hassle free handling and erection properties, GRC is an excellent alternative within residential construction companies for door surrounds and coping. GRC is also an ideal material for use in renovation. Thin lightweight panels are easy to fix and minimise the weight imposed on the existing structure. Benefits of GRC cladding: Provides the same durability and quality of finish as reconstructed stone Օ Is ideal where limited access means small, lightweight panels are required Improves buildability - no need for scaffolding or heavy crane capacity Speeds up construction time - not affected by weather or labour shortages POINT MILLS Օ BISSOE TRURO Օ CORNWALL TR4 8QZ TELEPHONE: 01872^864808 FAX: 01872^863606 e-mail: [email protected] website: www.cornishconcrete.co.uk
