Product catalog summary
Introduction to Demidec Flooring
Demidec flooring is a precast concrete solution known for its flat soffit, quality finish, and thermal mass effect. It is designed to enhance thermal performance and reduce sound transmission, suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, as well as permanent formwork for structures like car park and bridge decks.
Specifications and Features
  • Flat Soffit: Provides a smooth surface ready for decoration without needing a suspended ceiling.
  • Thermal Performance: Offers superior thermal mass with higher k-values than timber floors, improving energy efficiency.
  • Sound Reduction: The density of Demidec effectively reduces sound transmission.
  • Speed and Cost Efficiency: Wide units and simple lifting arrangements allow quick installation, offering cost advantages over traditional concrete solutions.
Variations and Customization
  • Hollow Core Applications: Uses polystyrene void formers to reduce weight and improve performance.
  • Lightweight Concrete: Can be made using "Lytag" for reduced density, maintaining environmental benefits.
Environmental and Quality Standards
  • Environmental Responsibility: CCP is accredited with ISO14001 and BES6001, ensuring responsible sourcing and sustainability.
  • Ecocrete: Demidec is made from Ecocrete, containing at least 80% secondary content, contributing to BREEAM excellence.
  • Quality Assurance: CCP holds ISO9001 certification, ensuring high-quality management systems.
Construction and Installation
  • Manufacturing Process: Produced in a state-of-the-art plant with precision-engineered steel pallets.
  • On-Site Installation: Designed for easy lifting and installation, with specific guidance available for each project.
  • Propping Options: Offers propped, multiple props, and unpropped options depending on span and load requirements.
Applications and Flexibility
  • Versatility: Suitable for various construction types, adaptable to different fire ratings and exposure classes.
  • Structural Capabilities: Lattice girders provide necessary stiffness, allowing for efficient load distribution and reduced reinforcement needs.
General Structural Information
Demidec flooring utilizes lattice girders to provide necessary stiffness for imposed loads from insitu concrete. The system offers three propping options: single row of props, multiple props for longer spans, and unpropped with extra lattice girders. For safety, units are generally post-propped to allow for passive fall systems.
Propping Requirements
Demidec flooring may require propping depending on the span and load conditions. The table provides indicative spans for various slab depths and support conditions, considering dead loading and superimposed loads.
Advantages of Demidec Flooring
  • Flat Soffit: Provides a flat surface with no camber, ready for decoration.
  • Thermal Mass Effect: Maximizes thermal mass by leaving the concrete soffit exposed, enhancing thermal performance.
  • Sound Reduction: The density of the product reduces sound transmission.
  • Speed of Erection: Large areas can be erected quickly due to the increased width of units.
  • Cost Efficiency: Competitive with insitu concrete solutions, offering a high-quality soffit.
On-Site Considerations
Demidec elements are designed for easy lifting. Joints must be sealed before concrete pouring to prevent grout loss. On-site reinforcement and concreting should follow specifications.

What is Demidec? Demidec is a thin precast concrete plate, typically 60mm deep, although this can vary depending on the use. The plate is supplied with a projecting steel lattice girder system that enables it to provide permanent formwork and integral tension reinforcement for insitu concrete toppings. How is Demidec made? All Demidec floors are manufactured in a state of the art carousel plant on precision engineered flat steel pallets. Shutters are held in place using magnets thereby ensuring that the quality of the pallets is not compromised. Sockets, channels and electrical boxes can be cast...

Why choose Demidec Flooring? Flat Soffit - Demidec floors are flat and have no camber. Quality Finish -Demidec floors produce a soffit ready for direct decoration. Each plank is cast with a small chamfer along the horizontal edge. Units are nominally 2400mm wide, although this can be varied to suit the geometry of the site so that the joints between units can be expressed. Thermal Mass Effect - By choosing Demidec floors, there is no need for a suspended ceiling and thus the thermal mass effect can be maximised as the concrete soffit is left exposed. Thermal Performance - Part L1A of the Building...

For what applications can Demidec be used? All Demidec units have an excellent soffit finish and so are suitable for a variety of different applications: Floors for: / Residential / Commercial / Industrial / Hotels / Accommodation Blocks Permanent Formwork for: / Car Park Decks / Bridge Decks / Jetties What is Demidec made from? Demidec is made from Ecocrete environmentally friendly concrete which is responsibly sourced with a minimum of 80% secondary content in all products. Are Demidec floors suitable for use with different types of construction? Demidec floors are far more versatile than prestressed...

Variations Hollow Core Applications By adding polystyrene void formers at the factory to the Demidec floors, the overall selfweight of the floors is reduced, thereby improving performance and reducing the dead load on the overall structure where the polystyrene creates a “hollow core” within the overall floor slab. Void formers are generally 400mm wide and are fixed between the lattice girders which are usually at 600mm centres. Demidec elements are designed to be lifted with the hooks of the lifting eye positioned under the diagonal of the lattice. Lightweight Concrete More detailed technical...

Demidec Floor Brochure-6

Is Demidec a flexible system? Each Demidec element is designed in the most efficient way for the particular part of the structure and its loadings. Sufficient reinforcement can be added to cope with localised additional point loads as well as trimming around openings. Unlike prestressed floors, the need for additional supports around openings can usually be avoided. Does Demidec always require propping? Demidec flooring and permanent formwork utilises the lattice girder which gives the units the stiffness required to take the imposed loads from the insitu concrete. Generally, the greater the...
