Overview

Project Details
Located in Green Park, Reading, this project involves 6000m2 of prepatinated copper panels in a 3000mm x 600mm landscape format. The panels exhibit a natural shading variety and are maintenance-free, with a lifespan exceeding 60 years.

System Description
The system features prepatinated copper panels fixed to the Cometec CS3 extruded aluminium hanging system, designed to prevent bi-metallic corrosion. It is a ventilated rainscreen system requiring an air-impermeable, insulated, and acoustically satisfactory structural internal wall. The cavity between the backing wall and rainscreen is pressure equalized to prevent rain ingress and allow moisture to dry naturally. The system complies with the "Standard for Ventilated Facades" by the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology.

Prepatinated Copper
The copper sheeting is 1.5mm thick and prepatinated in a controlled factory process, ensuring quality control over thickness and oxidation. The finish ranges from blue/green to yellow/green. CGL has expertise in fabricating various components from this material and ensures no corrosion occurs between copper and aluminium.

CGL CS3 Support System
The CGL CS3 support system offers flexibility for a flat, modular façade with exceptional tolerances. It is a vertical rail system with wall brackets, using aluminium, stainless steel, and neoprene compression gaskets.

Maintenance
While metal facades generally require annual cleaning, copper facades need no maintenance to maintain appearance or performance.

Warranty
