Environmental Considerations: Provides recommendations for different environmental zones, highlighting the importance of underlayment and ventilation.
Ventilation and Energy Efficiency: A ventilated roof with proper airflow through the eave and ridge can lead to significant energy savings. Ensures these areas are not obstructed and recommends protection against birds and vermin.
Ventilation Requirements: Maintains a free-flowing ventilation area throughout the roof deck to prevent dead air spaces. Suggests installing a minimum of one ventilation tile per 7 m², with at least two tiles per roof surface.
Moisture Prevention: Proper ventilation is crucial to avoid moisture-related issues such as peeling and cracking of tiles.
Tile Fixation Guidelines: Roof tiles should be securely fastened using nails, screws, or clips, with fixation frequency depending on exposure and building height. In high wind areas, all tiles must be fixed.
Roof Components: Key components include roof tiles, micro-ventilation voids, ventilation roof tiles, rafters, heat and waterproof underlayment, frames, and eaves ventilation combs.
Fixation and Slope: The roof's slope affects the level of tile fixation needed to prevent sliding or lifting, with special attention required at critical points.
Tile Color and Variations: Natural shade variations in clay tiles are expected and enhance aesthetic appeal. Blending tiles is recommended.
Product Changes: La Escandella reserves the right to modify product dimensions, fittings, and packaging without prior notice.

INNOVA Ample longitudinal overlapping (80mm) Avoids cutting the tiles, therefore reducing time and installation costs. Double interlocking The double interlocking -horizontal and vertical- allows the roof to be more watertight, ensuring its impermeability. Higher resistance The clay composition together with the perfect pressing allows flexion higher than the required while only weighing 3.4 kg. Excellent flatness H-Cassette manufacturing provides a perfect finish to each product. Lower absorption (<5%) High quality clay together with high firing temperature mean higher resistance to ice and...

LAID METHOD TIP Widthwise or lengthwise laid suggested in the technical catalogues are theoretical. The roofer must calculate the real widthwise or lengthwise laid of the tiles to be installed according to the methods defined in the rules in force in our installation manual. Tiles are manufactured with natural components and fired at high temperature which generates small dimensional variations. Download the INSTALLATION MANUAL NOTE: A control line between 3 and 5 rows of tiles (maximum) is recommended. * First course batten should be 20 mm (0.79”) higher than all succeeding course battens to...

TECHNICAL INFORMATION SLOPES / PITCHES The minimum pitch standard recommendations should always be followed (see values in the referral table). On all pitches below the standard recommended minimums, or in regions where ice dams may occur, a waterproof underlayment on the entire deck MUST be applied. Most problems with water-shedding roof installations occur from water that migrates through the joints of the tiles through capillarity action, wind-driven rain, and runoff or ice damming. Because of this possibility, the underlayment is critical to the success of the roof. WITHOUT UNDERLAYMENT ZONE...
