Ten identical tiles are tested for frost resistance by undergoing at least fifty freeze-thaw cycles between +5ºC and -5ºC. A tile is deemed frost-resistant if it remains undamaged after testing.
The proper use of ceramic tiles extends beyond laboratory results. Wear resistance is affected by the installation location and the presence of abrasives like sand or gravel. CERACASA categorizes usage into five levels based on traffic intensity, from light traffic areas like bedrooms to very heavy traffic zones.
For optimal installation, use a reliable adhesive and adhere to guidelines. Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and structurally sound. Use spacers for even tile placement and avoid extreme temperatures during installation. Allow grout to dry for 48 hours before covering tiles.
Leave gaps between tiles for aesthetic and functional purposes. Joints absorb structural movements and enhance appearance. Use appropriate grout types for porcelain tiles to ensure proper sealing.
Use chemical products to clean installation residues, following manufacturer instructions. Protect tiles from scratches with entrance mats and avoid abrasive materials. CERACASA provides equipment for drilling into installed tiles.

Verify that the format, tone, color, and quality of the purchased material meet expectations. Lay out several tiles to assess aesthetic effect and color range. Mix tiles from different boxes for uniformity, except for EMOTILE products.
Use adhesives of type C1 or C2 (UNE-EN 12004) for high adhesion and water resistance. Apply adhesive in a thin layer using a metal trowel. For larger formats or high-traffic areas, use a double thin layer method. Ensure even distribution of adhesive and use spacers for consistent gaps between tiles.
Joints are crucial for absorbing deformations and enhancing aesthetics. Various types of joints include placement joints, structural joints, perimeter joints, and expansion joints. CERACASA recommends a minimum joint width of 2 mm for interiors and 5 mm for exteriors.
Use chemical cleaners like FILA or PEQUINSA for final cleaning, but test in an inconspicuous area first. Protect surfaces during subsequent work and use mats to preserve the finish of high-gloss porcelain tiles.
CERACASA products are maintenance-free, fireproof, and can be cleaned with regular detergents free of hydrochloric acid. Claims on tiles with visible defects prior to installation will not be accepted.

CERACASA recommends a minimum joint width of 2 mm for tile installation to facilitate grout application and accommodate surface irregularities. For exterior installations, a 5 mm joint is advised. Rectified and calibrated products can have a reduced joint width of 1.5 mm. Special grouting materials for porcelain stoneware, such as those from KERAKOLL and PUMA, ensure adhesion despite the tiles' non-absorbent nature. Grouting should be applied with quick circular motions using a rubber trowel, followed by cleaning with a damp sponge.
Use chemical cleaners like FILA or PEQUINSA to remove any matte film from the surface post-installation. Always test these products in an inconspicuous area first and avoid using them on freshly laid tiles. Rinse thoroughly with water after treatment. Protect tiles during subsequent work by covering them with clean materials.
For high-gloss porcelain stoneware, maintain cleanliness to prevent scratches from abrasive materials. Use doormats at entrances to preserve the tiles' appearance. CERACASA tiles require no maintenance, are fireproof, and can be cleaned with various products, excluding those containing hydrochloric acid.
For drilling into installed porcelain stoneware, CERACASA offers water-cooled systems. If unavailable, use tungsten carbide drill bits without percussion and keep the bit cool.
CERACASA tiles are available in various sizes and are suitable for both interior and exterior use. They are frost-resistant, easy to clean, and stain-resistant.
