Circular fingerprint Several product ranges within our collection already have an exceptionally high content of recycled material. These products are recognisable by the Casala Circular fingerprint. Within the Curvy and Feniks product families, a number of models, under Circular Guarantee, are furthermore provided with a guaranteed return value. As a result, the new owner is guaranteed a fixed residual value at the end of the usage cycle; the furniture is taken back by Casala and re-used to the highest possible level.

Take back guarantee Do you have used Casala furniture? For all furniture produced by Casala, we guarantee take back and processing into new products. That also applies to >15-year-old furniture. Casala can transform commonly used chairs and tables, conference chairs and tables into excellent products for circular projects. Sustainability in our genes Since 2004 — the year we started developing the current collection in the Netherlands — Casala has been developing its products on a sustainable basis. Most of the products we have introduced since then, such as Curvy and Feniks, are still current more than 15 years after their introduction. Depending on the type of upholstery used, they consist of 100% recyclable new materials.

Design Casala products are designed for a long lifespan; our designs are timeless and of high quality. A product with a long lifespan is a basic prerequisite for the Circular Economy. The core of the upholstered shells are made of recycled PEFC™ wood. Chromed parts are finished with Chrome-3. Our product development is focused on easy disassembly and separation of materials and minimising the use of new materials. Production Casala furniture is produced in the Netherlands under good working conditions and by well-trained employees. Obviously, we operate within the Dutch environmental standards, but we do much more to make our production more sustainable. We purchase renewable energy, generate energy from our own pressed pellets from our sawing waste, and use environmentally friendly production techniques such as laser cutting steel and computer-controlled dust cutting machines. This minimises the use of new materials, the production of waste, CO2 emissions and energy consumption.

Raw materials and semi-finished products are purchased locally as much as possible; mostly, within Western Europe and always from a guaranteed responsible sources. The FSC® and PEFC™ certification of our wooden components and the cooperation with ‘Der Grüne Punkt’ in the area of plastics also guarantees this independently. The selection of suppliers who work with Casala takes careful consideration. ReFurniture Casala furniture is “designed for disassembly”. In our production, we can optimally refurbish products and make them suitable for a second life. In addition to our own furniture, at ReFurniture we also give furniture from other brands a second life.
