Product catalog summary
Product Description: OptiGrund E.L.F. is a SilaCryl-based primer designed for both exterior and interior surfaces. It is highly penetrating and suitable for equalizing rough, porous, absorbent, or slightly sanding surfaces such as renders, plasters, concrete, and gypsum boards before applying various types of paints. It features a special black light-reflecting finish for verification purposes.
Field of Application: The primer is suitable for use in areas without explosion-proof fittings, poorly ventilated spaces, and rooms used for food processing or storage. Its SilaCryl technology allows for deep penetration and enhanced hydrophobic properties. Verification of application can be done using a UV lamp, revealing a bluish/purple reflection.
Material Properties: OptiGrund E.L.F. is low odor, emission-minimized, solvent-free, and ready-to-use. It is easy to apply and enhances hydrophobic properties. The material is a silicone-modified, aqueous acrylic resin hydrosol.
Technical Data: The primer has a density of approximately 1.02 g/cm³ and is available in 1 l, 5 l, and 10 l packaging. It is blue-transparent in color and should be stored in a cool, frost-free place.
Application: Suitable substrates must be sound, dry, clean, and free from adhesion-preventing materials. Application should follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, paragraph 3 in Germany. The primer should be applied undiluted on normal absorbency substrates and thoroughly soaked on highly absorbent surfaces. The priming coat should not form a continuous glossy film but will have a slight surface luster due to the UV indicator.
Consumption: Approximately 150–200 ml/m² depending on substrate absorbency. Trial application is recommended to establish the exact rate of consumption.
Application Conditions: Minimum temperature for application and drying is +5 °C. At +20 °C and 65% relative humidity, the primer is recoatable after approximately 12 hours. Lower temperatures extend drying times.
Tools: OptiGrund E.L.F. can be applied using a brush, roller, or spraying equipment. For airless application, use a 60° spray angle, 0.029" nozzle size, and 50 bar pressure. Clean tools immediately after use with water.
Compatibility and Safety: The primer should not be mixed or thinned with other materials to maintain its properties. Safety precautions include keeping out of reach of children, using a P2 dust filter for grinding, ensuring good ventilation, and avoiding ingestion or contact with eyes and skin. Dispose of materials and packaging safely according to local regulations.

OptiGrund E.L.F.-1

OptiGrund E.L.F. SilaCryl-based, highly penetrating, special primer for exterior and interior surfaces; verifiable through a special black light-reflecting finish. Product Description Field of Application Primer to equalize rough, porous, absorbent or slightly sanding renders/plasters and concrete surfaces and interior gypsum building and plasterboards before applying emuslion-, silicone resin- or polymer resin paints. For exterior and interior use. OptiGrund E.L.F. may also be used in rooms without explosion-proof fittings or in insufficiently ventilated areas, as well as in rooms used for processing or storing foods and luxury foodstuffs. Due to the special SilaCryl technology (extremely fine particles) the material is deeply penetrating and enhances hydrophobic properties. In conjunction with a black light lamp, the special UV indicator provides verification of priming even after a following coat. To do this, the coating is carefully scraped away down to the substrate and illuminated with an ultraviolet lamp. OptiGrund E.L.F. is then characterised by a bluish/purple reflection. Material Properties Material Base / Vehicle Packaging/Package Size Low odour. Emission-minimised. Solvent-free. Enhances hydrophobic properties. Ready-to-use. Easy to apply. Silicone modified, aqueous acrylic resin hydrosol. 1 l, 5 l and 10 l Keep in a cool, but frost-free place. Technical Data Application Suitable Substrates Substrate Preparation Surface Coating System The substrates must be sound, dry, clean, and free from all materials that may prevent good adhesion. In Germany: Follow VOB, part C, DIN 18 363, paragraph 3. See Technical Information No. 650 for suitability of OptiGrund E.L.F. on different substrates and their special pre-treatment. Apply one coat of undiluted material on substrates with normal absorbency. On highly absorbent surfaces apply one coat undiluted, but soak thoroughly. The priming coat must not form a continuous, glossy film, but due to the special UV indicator a slight surface lustre will appear.
