Open the catalog to page 3Léon Stynen (1899-1990), son of a sculptor and a decorative artist, studied architecture at the Antwerp Academy. His contemporaries included Bourgeois, De Koninck, Hoste, Van Doesburg, Gropius and Le Corbusier - who was a main source of inspiration and a dear friend. Open the catalog to page 4The chair was designed in 1958 by Stynen for the World Expo in Brussels. In 2016 Bulo reissued the chair in close collaboration with the Stynen family. The SL58 is available as a low lounge chair, a dining chair, an office chair with a 5-star base on castors, a counter height barstool and a high barstool. In 2018 we added a polypropylene version to the collection, allowing the chair to be used outdoors as well. This newest addition was named the ‘SLL18’.
Open the catalog to page 6In honor of the 60th anniversary of the SL58, Bulo developed the SLL18, a polypropylene version of the original design by Léon Stynen. Available in 4 modern colors: dust pink, cream white, moss grey and forest green. The frame comes in an elegant matte chrome.
Open the catalog to page 8Alain Berteau Award winning designer and architect also works in education, teaching furniture design at the Henry van de Velde -founded La Cambre design school. Berteau works on both residential and industrial projects. His creations are simple, intense and constantly challenging the norm. His studio practice puts as much emphasis on the environment and surroundings of the projects as with the design of the product itself. In 2006 Berteau won his first Designer of the Year award at the renowned international design exhibition, Courtray Design Biennale Interieur.
Open the catalog to page 9The is a humanistic response to the various ways we sit in a chair, created with elegance, creativity and discipline by Alain Berteau. The back has a flex which makes comfortable and ergonomic seating. The front of the chair is padded and upholstered; the back is a plywood shell in lacquer or wood veneer finish. The base is available in cantilever, sledge and height adjustable 5-star with castors. The sledge base chair is stackable and comes with interlocking connectors.

Maintaining the signature sleek profile and elegant detailing of the Tab chair, whilst offering a more relaxed seating position. The Tab Lounge is available in the same upholstery finishes as the Tab Chair, allowing for various spaces to be furnished harmoniously.

By combining multiple Tab Lounge seats and encasing them with a veneer back we maintained the comfort of the Tab Lounge, while preserving the veneer-upholstery identity of the collection. The result is an ergonomic, acoustic and social seating space.
Open the catalog to page 13Belgian product and graphic designer works and lives in Brussels. He studied at La Cambre and for several years he has been a partner of Jean Nouvel Design in Paris. Now he works as independent designer and art director for multiple brands such as Modular, Obumex, Bulo, Wolters, Serax and Hind Rabii. He curates the Jules Wabbes Editions 2010 and the re-editions of Louis Herman DeKoninck. During his time as art director for Bulo, he designed the bistro chair oOstende and the iconic Pub&Club office chair.
Open the catalog to page 14oOstende chair The is inspired by classic molded plywood shells which are sturdy workhorses in many environments. With the observation that a chair back is often used to hang a bag or a coat, a notch was added to the back to enhance this function. The oOstende chair is stackable and consists of a wire steel base and a molded plywood seat. The shell is available in natural beech, Santos rosewoodstained beech and various laquers. The base comes in chrome, black powdercoat and champagne chromed.
