Product catalog summary
General Instructions
The installation of BOLTA hard foam skirting boards must adhere to VOB Part C DIN 18365 and guidelines from the Bundesverband Estrich und Belag (BEB) and Technischen Kommission Bauklebstoffe (TKB). These instructions complement existing trade and technology standards.

Preparation of the Substrate
The wall substrate must be suitable for skirting board installation, being even, dry, crack-free, and load-bearing. Ideal room temperature is between 18-23°C, with substrate temperature at least 15°C and relative humidity between 40-65%. Specific moisture levels for different materials are provided, and a primer may be necessary. Uneven or rough substrates should be smoothed before installation.

Installation/Fastening
Skirting boards should acclimatize for 24 hours before installation. They can be glued or nailed, depending on the substrate and appearance. Consultation with adhesive manufacturers is recommended for gluing. Galvanised steel nails should be used for nailing, with specific spacing guidelines. Combined gluing and nailing may be used in special situations.

Installation/Cutting to Size
Skirting boards must be cut to fit precisely without stress. Mitred joints should be cut using the BOLTA skirting board punch, which requires regular maintenance. Boards should be pressed downwards during installation to avoid warping.

Final Remark
BOLTA skirting boards undergo quality checks, but defects should be reported immediately upon delivery. Complaints require specific details and a sample piece. Previous instructions are invalidated by this edition, and updates may occur without notice. The current edition is available online.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS HARD FOAM SKIRTING BOARD The following installation instructions must be observed in particular for the installation of BOLTA hard foam skirting boards. VOB Part C DIN 18365 "Floor-laying work" and the respective comments/explanations as well as the current data sheets from the Bundesverband Estrich und Belag (BEB) [German Federal Screed and Floor Covering Association] and the Technischen Kommission Bauklebstoffe (TKB) [Technical Commission for Construction Adhesives] as well as the recognised rules of the trade/technology apply in addition to these installation instructions. Like substrates for the installation of floor coverings, the wall substrate must be examined to determine its suitability when installing skirting boards. The same regulations as mentioned in point 1 apply. The substrate for mounting the hard foam skirting boards (HSL) must in particular be sufficiently even, dry, free from cracks and firm/capable of bearing loads. Apart from that, the substrate must not have any separating layers and instable zones. The room temperature must lie between 18 and 23 °C (21 °C is ideal). The substrate temperature must be at least 15 °C (ideally at least 18 °C). The relative humidity must lie between 40 and 65%. The following empirical values apply to the residual moisture or moisture level in the substrate • • • • • Gypsum plaster Cement mortar Lime mortar Concrete Stud walls with gypsum board < 0.5% by weight < 2.5% by weight < 2.0% by weight < 3.0% by weight < 0.5% by weight In addition, the roughness of the surface and the porosity of the substrate must be checked. A coat of primer may be necessary before installing the hard foam skirting board. In addition, the evenness of the substrate must be checked. If the substrates are too uneven, or if they are very rough or structured, the walls must be smoothed/filled before installation. 3. INSTALLATION/FASTENING Before processing and installation, all skirting boards are to be acclimatised for at least 24 hours and thus adapted to the climatic conditions in the room (see point 2). The profiles must be stored such that deformations and comparable impediments are ruled out. Various possibilities are available for installation. The skirting boards can be fastened by gluing or nailing. The type of installation depends on the substrate and the appearance of the skirting board and must ideally be clarified and defined together with the customer. If gluing the skirting boards, we recommend that the respective manufacturer of the hot-melt adhesive systems or mounting adhesives be

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS HARD FOAM SKIRTING BOARD Suitable dry adhesives may also be used on smooth and even substrates; however the required quantity of adhesive and the type of adhesive tape must also be clarified with the manufacturer of the respective adhesive. If nailing, galvanised steel nails must be used. The required length of the nails depends on the existing substrate. The distance between the nails should be between 25 and max. 50 cm. The nails are to be arranged with an offset. In special situations it may be practical to use a combined method of fixing – gluing with additional...
