Cleaning and maintenance

Product catalog summary
Introduction
BOEN hardwood floors are crafted for durability and easy maintenance. This document outlines guidelines for cleaning, maintaining, and protecting these floors to extend their lifespan.
Room Climate and Hardwood Floors
Wood absorbs and releases moisture based on room climate. Ideal conditions for BOEN floors are temperatures between 18°C and 28°C and humidity levels between 30% and 65%. A humidifier is recommended during dry months to prevent gaps and warping.
Underfloor Heating
BOEN floors are compatible with underfloor heating, maintaining a stable room climate. Surface temperatures should not exceed 29°C (27°C in Scandinavian countries). Permanent adhesion to the heating system is advised for stability.
Preventative Measures
To avoid scratches, use felt gliders on furniture and chair underlays for rolling chairs. Place doormats and runners at entrances to trap dirt and sand.
Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Initial Care: Use BOEN Oil Freshen Up with a lint-free cloth.
  • Daily Cleaning: Sweep or vacuum regularly. Mop with BOEN Floor Soap mixed with water.
  • Maintenance: Apply BOEN Oil Freshen Up regularly, especially in high-traffic areas.
  • Intensive Cleaning: Use concentrated BOEN Floor Soap for deep cleaning, followed by BOEN Natural Oil for re-oiling.
Product-Specific Care
  • Live Natural: Deep oil penetration for protection. Use BOEN Natural Oil for maintenance.
  • Live Satin: Hard-wearing silk finish. Use BOEN Refresher for maintenance.
  • Live Matt: Low-gloss, scratch-resistant finish. Use BOEN Polish Matt for maintenance.
  • Live Pure: Mimics untreated wood with high resistance. Use BOEN Polish Live Pure for maintenance.
Commercial Property Considerations
In high-traffic commercial areas, additional applications of BOEN Natural Oil are necessary. Regular cleaning and occasional sanding and resealing are recommended.
Conclusion
Regular inspections and adherence to these guidelines will ensure the longevity and beauty of BOEN hardwood floors.
Introduction to Parquet and Underfloor Heating
Parquet flooring is compatible with underfloor heating, providing a consistent room climate. Maintain surface temperatures below 29°C (27°C in Scandinavian climates) to prevent deformation or cracking. Proper room climate maintenance and adhesive installation are recommended.
Maintenance Tips for Parquet Flooring
Use entrance mats and remove shoes to prevent dirt. Apply felt pads under furniture to avoid scratches. Regularly vacuum and promptly clean spills.
Initial Care and Regular Maintenance
Apply BOEN Oil Freshen Up with a lint-free cloth for initial care. Regular cleaning should be done with a broom or vacuum. Use BOEN Floor Soap diluted in water for thorough cleaning, avoiding excessive water.
Intensive Cleaning and Stain Removal
For heavily soiled floors, use concentrated BOEN Floor Soap, followed by a clear water rinse. Re-oil with BOEN Natural Oil if necessary. Treat specific stains like wine or ink with household cleaners or spirits.
Commercial and High-Traffic Areas
In areas like restaurants or hotel entrances, additional protection with BOEN Natural Oil is essential. Regular inspections and maintenance are recommended.
Product-Specific Care
Live Satin: High-abrasion resistance with reduced maintenance needs. Use BOEN Cleaner and BOEN Refresher.
Live Matt: Low-gloss finish with anti-scratch properties. Use BOEN Polish Matt.
Live Pure: Ultra-matte finish with excellent protection. Use BOEN Cleaner and BOEN Polish Live Pure.
General Recommendations
Regular cleaning with a broom or vacuum is essential. Use appropriate BOEN products for specific finishes to maintain appearance and durability. In high-traffic areas, weekly maintenance and potential resealing may be necessary.
