Product catalog summary
Technical Standards
Black Mountain Insulation's NatuWool meets several technical standards, including a Euro Class E fire rating (EN 13501-1:2002) and compliance with BS 5250:1989 for condensation. It has a thermal conductivity of 0.039 W/mK and a thermal resistance of 2.50 m²K/W at 100mm thickness. The specific heat capacity is 1700 J/kgK, with a vapour resistivity of 10 MNs/gm and moisture absorption of 35% w/w. The product has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and global warming potential (GWP).
Thermal Efficiency
NatuWool is an excellent thermal insulator with a thermal conductivity of 0.039 W/mK. It can absorb over 35% moisture without affecting performance and can absorb volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It is flame resistant, achieving a Euro Class E rating.
Thermal Performance
The thermal resistance and U values vary with thickness: 50mm (1.28 m²K/W, 0.78 W/m²K), 75mm (1.92 m²K/W, 0.52 W/m²K), 100mm (2.56 m²K/W, 0.39 W/m²K), 150mm (3.85 m²K/W, 0.26 W/m²K), and 200mm (5.13 m²K/W, 0.20 W/m²K).
Product Description
NatuWool is a natural fibre thermal insulator made of 95% natural wool fibres and 5% recycled adhesive binder. It is flexible, resilient, and easy to cut and shape. Rolls are suitable for cold lofts and suspended floors, while batts are recommended for warm lofts, partition walls, and timber frames.
Dimensions
Standard roll sizes: Width 600mm, Thickness 50mm to 125mm, Length 4m to 10m. Standard batt sizes: Width 400mm or 600mm, Thickness 50mm to 200mm, Length 1200mm. Special sizes available on request.
Environmental Impact
NatuWool uses only 10% of the energy required for some man-made insulation products. It is biodegradable, unlike mineral fibre insulation, which requires landfill disposal. The product remains efficient throughout a building's life, eliminating 'top up' costs.

Special sizes and thickness available on request Batts are recommended for use in warm loft application, partitioning wall space and timber frames to avoid potential movement and provide an easy fit. Black Mountain sheep’s wool insulation is an excellent thermal insulator and offers a thermal conductivity of 0.039 W/mK. Moisture Absorbency Sheep’s wool insulation has the capacity to absorb and manage over 35% moisture without having a detrimental impact on product performance. VOC (volatile organic compound) Absorption STANDARD BATT SIZES AVAILABLE Thermal Efficiency ODP (Ozone depletion potential) GWP (Global warming potential) STANDARD ROLL SIZES AVAILABLE Special sizes and thickness available on request Sheep’s wool has a unique ability to absorb and lock away noxious gases that are emitted by various building products. Flame Resistant Achieving a Euro Class E fire performance rating, sheep’s wool insulation is classified as fire resistant and in the case of a fire will not exacerbate the situation. THERMAL PERFORMANCE Thickness • At the end of the product life cycle, natural fibres such as sheep’s wool will biodegrade whereas man-made mineral fibre insulation products can only currently be disposed of properly in landfill sites. • The product will remain efficient throughout the life of a typical building, eliminating any ‘top up’ costs. • Black Mountain only use 10% of the energy required to manufacture some competing man-made insulation products.
