BAHAMA »Print« – the option of personalized or custom-branded BAHAMA umbrellas i.e. their fabric membrane editions. What you should know if considering to have your BAHAMA umbrellas i.e. their membranes made of imprintable fabric types »betex-05« or »betex-09« durably printed. The BAHAMA factory has three different printing techniques at its disposal, either one of them requiring a different method of generating print images: Whereas both digital as well as conventional flat-bed silk screen printing are executed on the acrylate-coated upside of each individual segment cut to be sewn to complete an imprinted membrane, ”through-printing” also designated transparent-printing is executed by consecutively screen-printing repeat images onto preconditioned, more or less white polyester fabric. Thereupon, the fabric still on roll is transparentcoated & sealed on its printed i.e. the upside exposed to weathering. Only thereafter the fabric is cut into the geometric part segments required to be sewn to the membrane suitable and ready to be mounted onto the folding frame of the umbrella model concerned. Advantages & disadvantages of the different printing techniques. DIGITAL PRINTING + Delivers sharply defined, actually photo-realistic images in countless different colours, nuances and shadings on no matter which plain-colour fabric base. + For single membranes and quantities of 15 to 20 equally made-up membranes digital printing is by far the most economical technique available. + No other printing technique requires shorter lead i.e. production time. – Degressively looses its economical per-unit advantage with production quantities exceeding 20 equally printed equal-shape & size membrane units. FLAT-BED SILK SCREEN PRINTING + Practicable on any no matter which plain-colour fabric base – if necessary, by way of underlaying white. + Develops growingly efficient with quantities beyond 20 equally printed membrane units. + Ab-intio time required for production is moderately longer than with digital printing. – Less suitable if outspokenly photo realistic images or subtile colour nuances are of the essence. – Looses its economical per-unit advantage with production quantities exceeding 50 to 60 equally printed equal-shape & size membrane units. ”THROUGH-PRINTING” (transparent-effect method) + Allows printing over the entire surface of the on-roll fabric material, including multi-colour images as well as any overall plain colour shade desired for the ground images are to appear on. + Transparency effect: As viewed from underneath the umbrella, print images even though mirror-inverted appear brighter and more brilliant than viewed onto from top or outside. + Develops growingly more efficient with production quantities of 60 up equally printed equal-shape & size membrane units. – Not efficient nor economical with production quantities below 60 equally printed equal-shape & size membrane units. – Due to its system-related preproduction steps necessary to commence on-roll printing, ex-factory delivery of eventually mountable membranes requires considerably more time than with any
