Introducing sound-absorbing objects, such as lamps, can reduce RT60 and enhance acoustic comfort without structural changes. The Equivalent Sound Absorbing Area (A) of an object considers its material properties, size, and shape.
Testing and Results
Tests were conducted in a room measuring 8m x 6m x 3.1m (150 m³). The RT60 was measured across various frequencies, both with and without acoustic lamps. Results showed significant reductions in RT60 with the addition of 1, 2, or 3 lamps, demonstrating the effectiveness of these lamps in reducing noise levels.
Data Summary
For different lamp models, the reduction in RT60 and the Equivalent Sound Absorption Area (A) were recorded across frequencies from 125 Hz to 8000 Hz. The data indicated varying levels of noise reduction, with some models achieving up to 59.7% reduction in RT60 with three lamps.
