STOOL 60 AND E60 – ALVAR AALTO 1933 AND 1934 In the late 1920s, Aalto began to experiment with bending wood and collaborated with the furniture manufacturer Otto Korhonen on a number of innovative techniques. For the fabrication of the “L-leg”, Alvar Aalto developed a patented process for the bending of solid wood. Multiple vertical saw cuts are made in the end of a piece of wood a few millimeters apart.
