Design Considerations:

Clearance: Easy Elegance™ ceiling panels require a drop/suspended ceiling using Armstrong Prelude® 15/16-in Grid. A clearance of approximately 6 inches above the grid face is needed for 1280 Deep Coffer panels and 3 inches for 1282 Shallow Coffer panels.
Lighting: Panels are compatible with most modern light fixtures. Maintain a 1/8-inch gap between recessed light housing and panel. The 1280 panel is 2.5 inches tall, which may necessitate a height extension for light fixtures.
Heat Source: Avoid installing panels in direct contact with open flames or heat sources exceeding 130°F. Most modern CFL and LED lights meet this requirement.
Cutting Panels: Cutting 1280 and 1282 Coffer panels is not recommended. Use tegular edge mineral fiber drop ceiling panels like Sahara™ Model #271 for border cuts or finish with drywall using MBAC and DWAC clips.

Perimeter Installation Options:

Option A: Drywall Perimeter

Install a square and level suspension system with angle molding, hanger wires, and Prelude® grid. Follow local electrical codes for light fixture requirements.
Cut coffer panels for lighting integration, leaving a 1/8-inch gap covered by light fixture trim.
Install lights with height extensions for 1280 Deep Coffered panels (2.5 inches above grid) and 1282 Shallow Coffer panels (7/16 inches above grid).
Install DWAC and MBAC Clips at 8-inch intervals to support drywall.
Cut and secure drywall, ensuring the border does not exceed 24 inches to the wall.
Finish drywall with bead edge, spackle, sand, and paint.
Drop panels into place and use CHDC clear hold down clips to prevent shifting.

Option B: Tegular Acoustical Drop Panel Perimeter

Install a square and level suspension system with angle molding, hanger wires, and Prelude® grid. Follow local electrical codes for light fixture requirements.
Cut coffer panels for lighting integration, leaving a 1/8-inch gap.
Install lights with height extensions for 1280 panels (2.5 inches above grid) and 1282 panels (7/16 inches above grid).
Cut acoustic perimeter panels using a tegular edge cutter tool.
Drop 1280 or 1282 coffer panels into the center section and tegular acoustic panels into the border.
Use CHDC clear hold down clips to prevent panel shifting.
