Catalog excerpts
ArcelorMittal is the world’s leading producer of structural steel shapes. As a result of sustained investments in innovation and development, we are able to offer most diverse product range of its kind, meeting the strict technical, quality and environmental requirements. Customer satisfaction, performance and innovation are our primary objectives. Super Jumbos are very heavy rolled wide flange sections with up to 140 mm (5 1/2 in.) flange thickness and weigh up to 1377 kg/m (925Ibs/ft). They are available in very high strength steels including ASTM A913/ grades 485, 450 and 345 MPa (70, 65 and 50 ksi), ETA-10/0156 / HISTAR 460, EN 10025 / S460M and in normal strength steel grades (355 MPa). An outstanding feature of these very high strength steels is their low carbon equivalent values, allowing easier processing by the fabricators. As such, preheating before welding can usually be avoided and lead to substantial time and cost savings. When the design of an element is not governed by deflection, higher strength steel enables an average of 20% weight and cost reduction on the structural elements. These savings apply also to the carbon footprint. Steel sections have an infinite recycling life and a 99% recovery rate. Product Applications Super Jumbos have been successfully used in columns, trusses, out-riggers and belt trusses for various project around the world including One World Trade Center in New York City (USA) , the Shanghai World Trade Center (China) and the top structure of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (U.A.E.). Technical Advisory Upon request, we offer free technical advice to optimize the use of our products in your projects as well as to answer any questions you may have. Our technical expertise and assistance includes the design of structural elements, construction details, surface protection, fire safety, metallurgy and welding process. Thanks to our high strength steels and Super Jumbos, we are convinced that we will find together the best structural solutions to reduce the overall cost of your projects. © Chuck Choi - Architect: Foster + Partners Super Jumbo Sections
