Product catalog summary
Product Overview
Apricus AP range of evacuated tube solar collectors are designed for both residential and commercial applications. They feature a modular design, lightweight manifold, and options for stainless steel or anodized aluminum mounting frames. The collectors are reliable, with efficient flow, high temperature stability, and resilience against extreme cold and coastal corrosion.
Product Range
The AP collectors are available in sizes of 10, 20, 22, or 30 tubes, with peak output ranging from 648W to 1944W. Specifications vary to meet local market needs, detailing aperture and gross areas, weights, and fluid capacities for each model.
Construction and Operation
The AP solar collector consists of evacuated tubes, heat pipes, a manifold, and a mounting frame. It absorbs solar energy, converts it to heat, and transfers it via heat pipes to the manifold, where a pump circulates the heat transfer fluid to a storage tank.
Main Component Specifications
Materials include borosilicate glass for tubes, high purity copper for heat pipes, and stainless steel or aluminum for mounting frames, ensuring durability and efficiency.
Efficiency and Performance
Efficiency is based on aperture area, with performance curves provided. Instantaneous Efficiency and IAM values are crucial for understanding performance throughout the day and year.
Flow Rates and Pressure Drop
Flow rates are provided for different temperature rises, with recommendations for domestic hot water applications. Pressure drop curves assist in pump sizing.
Snow and Wind Loading
The collectors are rated for significant snow and wind loads, with specific mounting frames for extreme conditions.
Certification
The AP collectors have multiple certifications, ensuring compliance with international standards.
Material Choices
Material selection focuses on durability and recyclability, using high purity copper and stainless steel for long-term performance and minimal environmental impact.
Packing and Shipping
Packing methods are optimized for safety and cost-effectiveness, with detailed formats for different shipping scenarios.
Warranty Overview
The document outlines the warranty for the AP Solar Collector, including exclusions such as modifications, improper installation, and exposure to excessive pressure. The warranty period starts from the installation date or manufacture date plus 60 days, covering ten years for manifold casing and evacuated tubes, and fifteen years for the copper heat transfer header and mounting frame.
End User Obligations
To claim warranty, the end-user must verify the product is within the warranty period and provide installation details, operation history, and evidence of compliance with guidelines and local codes.
Customer Satisfaction
Apricus offers a mediation process for unsatisfactory warranty service responses, in compliance with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
Limit of Liability
Apricus disclaims all other warranties beyond the express limited warranty and limits liability for damages, subject to state laws.

AP Solar Collector Product Overview How it Works Header Pipe The AP solar collector is comprised of four main parts: Evacuated Tube (ET) Absorbs solar energy and converts it to usable heat. Vacuum between the two glass layers insulates against heat loss. Heat Transfer Fin Evacuated Tube Heat Pipe (HP) Copper vacuum pipe that transfers the heat from within the ET up to the manifold. Heat Pipe Manifold Insulated box containing the copper header pipe. The header is a pair of contoured copper pipes with dry connect sockets that the heat pipes plug into. Mounting Frame Strong and easy to install with...

AP Solar Collector Product Overview Instantaneous Efficiency The instantaneous efficiency level depends on the surface area used for the calculation. It is important to use the same area (absorber, aperture or gross) when comparing collectors. Aperture is the standard area measurement for presenting efficiency values. AP Collector Performance Variables for Different Surface Areas Variable Gross Area * Surface area values differ slightly from Europe to North America due to difference in measuring methods. The following is the AP solar collector performance curve based on the aperture area. Collector...

AP Solar Collector Product Overview Instantaneous Efficiency IAM is a measure of the change in collector performance as the angle with the sun changes. This is measured in two planes, longitudinal which represents sun’s path over the collector throughout the year and transversal which represents the sun’s path over the collector each day. SUMMER SPRING AUTUMN MORNING WINTER The following table provides the IAM values for Apricus AP Solar Collectors (same for all sizes). A value of 1.00 is when the sun is perpendicular to the collectors surface; so midday for transversal, and mid spring/autumn...

AP Solar Collector Product Overview Flow Rates The liquid flow rate through the collector depends on the desired temperature rise. In most cases a variable speed controlled pump is recommended so a target temperature rise is maintained. The following calculations are based on water as the circulating liquid, with collector operating at the maximum rated midday output. Please note that either side of midday output can exceed these levels by up to 15% due to the IAM angle adjustment factor. Values will differ slightly for other heat transfer fluids. Flowrate (L/min) For most domestic hot water...
