CASE STUDY: WIND POWER SOLUTIONS MUUKKO - Finland Alstom's first Nordic wind turbines 7 ECO 110 wind turbines. Operation and maintenance maintenance services Alstom is supplying to the Muukko wind farm 7 ECO 110 wind turbines. The agreement, which was signed in June 2012, includes the supply, transportation and installation and 12 years of operation and maintenance services of the turbines. The project is Alstom's first Nordic wind contract. The civil works for erection sites, roads and turbine foundations started in Muukko in July 2012. The Muukko substation was connected to the grid already at the end of June. The erection of the wind turbines started in early 2013. The wind turbines for the Muukko wind farm have been built in Alstom's wind turbine manufacturing facilities in Spain. The rotor diameter of each turbine is 110 metres and has a tower height of 90 metres. These wind turbines are well suited for medium to low wind sites and they will feature a cold climate kit to suit the Finnish winter conditions. CUSTOMER PROFILE TuuliMuukko Oy is jointly owned by TuuliTapiola ky and TuuliSaimaa Oy. TuuliSaimaa was established in 2009 in Lappeenranta, Finland, and aims to provide approximately 200 MW of wind power to Finland. Its core compentencies is in procuring suitable areas for wind power, permission procedures, planning and execution of the projects. HARNESSING FINLAND'S WIND POWER POTENTIAL The Muukko wind farm will have a total installed power of 21 MW - almost 10% of the current installed wind capacity in Finland. In August 2012, there were 145 wind turbines in operation in Finland with total power of 234 MW. Finland is working to meet the government target of up to 2,500 MW of operational wind energy by 2020. There are currently more than 7,800 MW wind power projects in development across Finland, of which about 3,000 MW are offshore projects. nformation contained in this document is indicative only.
