Modular Buildings-Healthcare - 1

PROJECT CASE HISTORY KITTITAS VALLEY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL (KVCH) Ellensburg, WA Client Project KVCH is a critical access hospital that provides healthcare to Kittitas County and the surrounding areas. It was time to replace the existing mobile MRI, parked outside the hospital’s imaging services area, with a permanent MRI suite on the hospital campus. The site chosen was a U-shaped alcove surrounded on three sides by the existing structure which posed a challenge with fire rating code interpretations between state and local agencies. The other challenge: it was vitally important that the project be completed within a five month timeframe to avoid winter weather. Client Need The new facility features the Siemens 1.5T MRI scanner with a “short bore” or hole that maintains an “openness” allowing anxious or claustrophobic patients to relax. Both the integrated structure and the imaging magnet are leased from Alliance Imaging who partners directly with hospitals and other healthcare providers to provide turnkey solutions that include market analysis, management, staffing, state-of-the-art equipment, and marketing. Williams Scotsman’s past healthcare project experience, specifically with imaging projects, clearly impressed the decision makers. With a short time to accomplish construction, installation, and review processes, constant attention to detail was vital. The WS team’s expertise and regional knowledge guided the project through state, local, and agency committees and maintained smooth coordination between the architect and engineering team, the modular building manufacturer, the medical design and installation team.
