Open the catalog to page 4TIMBER WEATHERING The hardwood timbers we use for our products are extremely durable and able to resist the most inclement weather, making them ideally suited for garden furniture. Due to the weathering process and timber being a natural material, joints will become slightly offset and surface cracks will appear. Additionally, end-grain splitting is likely to occur over time as the timber loses its natural moisture content. As with all hardwoods, this is normal behaviour. Timbers such as Roble and Mahogany have a high oil content which acts as a natural preservative, so all timber will mellow to a silvery grey colour within six months. If your customer wants to keep the original colour of the wood when they first purchased it, then we recommend they should treat it as soon as possible after purchase. After time there may be hairline cracks in the finish, this is due to the timber moving. Alexander Rose has the confidence in its products to offer warranties far in excess of statutory requirements up to a maximum of 10 years. The warranty is against both material and manufacturing defects.
