Technical SpecificationsEach project is custom manufactured according to specific project requirements, with standard sizes available. The thickness of the glass varies by project, but a standard configuration includes three lites of 3/8” glass, totaling approximately 1-1/4” in thickness. The product type used is laminated fully tempered glass, adhering to ASTM code requirements, which mandate a minimum of three glass pieces per panel for
flooring products.
Structural Support MethodsStandard supports are typically continuous on two sides or all edges, with additional support in the middle for longer spans. Custom designs and non-standard support systems require individual design and structural review by both a structural engineer and a glass engineer. Silicone used must be compatible with laminated glass, and its adhesion to metal should be tested.
Safety and EngineeringSafety is prioritized, and Jockimo provides engineering analysis specific to each project. The preferred support system is four-sided for enhanced safety, though other options are also considered safe. Jockimo offers engineering and design services, ensuring each project meets safety standards.
Installation RecommendationsSilicone setting strips should be glued to the steel substructure before setting the glass. Recommended silicones include Dow Corning 995 and GE SCS 2800. Using non-recommended silicone voids the warranty. Setting blocks should be 60–70 shore, with options like CR Laurence's PSB 250 available. Blocks can be placed every 6”–12” around the perimeter or use a rubber/neoprene material to cover the support fully.
