BOTTOM RIGHT The 3form Advanced Technolog y group (ATG) developed an attachment assem bly to the custom steel frame system to hold both the light trays and cur ved Koda X T panels. The frame creates a safe, easy solution for inspection and maintenance of the light units illuminating the panels. ODOT MKSK The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission and City of Columbus partnered to reunite the King Lincoln and Discovery District neighborhoods with the new Long Street Bridge. MKSK, a local landscape architecture, urban design, and planning firm embraced the challenge to physically and visually reunite the neighborhoods and downtown Columbus with each other and their rich history.

CASE STUDY: ODOT PHOTOS: GARY McCAULEY MKSK envisioned replacing the standard bridge fencing with an illuminated screen wall spanning the length of the bridge depicting the visual history of the local cultural heritage while also reducing freeway noise levels, screening freeway views, and mitigating gusty wind conditions for pedestrians. Through a public art competition, local artists composed a series of images depicting community builders from local history. STATE ROAD 39 RUNDELL ERNSTBERGER Northwest of Indianapolis, the city of Lebanon, Indiana is a friendly community with a strong commitment to quality of life and to local businesses. In an effort to attract investment to Lebanon, located in between Indianapolis and Chicago, the mayor of the city sought to build an exterior sign over I-65 on the State Road 39 (SR39) overpass. The design team envisioned bright messaging and graphic branding in a curved sign to reflect the agricultural history of the area as well as to attract new commerce to this interstate location.
