Welding Welding produces many hazards – electrical hazards, light hazards, metal fume, thermal hazards and gases including Ozone. Metal fume consists of very fine particles which may damage the lungs and cause short term adverse health effects such as metal fume fever and other longer-term respiratory illnesses. 3M Product Selection Guide This guide is only an outline. It is designed to help focus on the most appropriate products in the 3M range for various applications and hazards. It should not be used as the only means of selecting a product. It is ultimately the responsibility of the employer to select the most appropriate PPE and level of protection required based on a full risk assessment. Details regarding performance and limitations are set out on the product packaging and data sheets.

Strap should not be twisted ŔŔ Respirator should be correctly positioned on your face and head ŔŔ Lower strap should be positioned below the ears. Strap should not be twisted ŔŔ Care must...

Testing should be repeated at appropriate times, such as annually, or if the wearer’s face shape changes due to weight loss or gain, or facial surgery.
