Advantages of LED technology

Long service life Vibration and impact proof Control of LEDs Depending on design, LEDs achieve a service life of 50,000 hours or more. This means long maintenance intervals and hard- ly any impairment of the degree of protection (IP) by stressing of shaped seals. Nevertheless, extremely long service life is only possible assuming efficient heat management in the lumi- naire which is an important fea- ture of good product design. The vibration and impact proof- ness of LEDs make them per- fect for long-term use in moving parts such as doors, sliding par- titions or in panelling of ships, boats, vehicles or aircraft. Light emitting diodes are semi-conductor components that can be dimmed efficiently and can also generate dynamically changing mixes of colours and static mixed colours via different channels. Using standard build- ing services signals such as DALI, DMX or 1–10 V, LEDs can be integrated into lighting design as stand-alone units or as part of a comprehensive lighting concept. Compact construction The small volume and compact dimensions of LEDs enable small decorative points of light that are popular in architectural applications. In addition, lumi- naires can be integrated into the architecture discreetly or even positioned so that they are invisible. In this way, when switched off, the luminaire unit does not interfere with architec- tural effect. White Led light Standard LED types are now capable of producing colour temperatures from 3,000 to 8,000 K. The colour of the light is adapted to suit the require- ments of the project in the same Low energy consumption Zumtobel LED luminaires sup- port extremely efficient energy budgets for both decorative as well as functional applications. This makes it possible to obtain attractive eye-catching effects or appealing functional lighting with comparatively low operat- ing costs. way as with classic light sources. Gentle light With UV/IR-free light, LEDs generate little heat at the lumi-naire surface. Sensitive and valuable objects in museums or upmarket shops (e.g. jewellers, perfumeries, fashion accesso- ries) can thus be illuminated with great effect yet without damage. Coloured and dynamic coloured light Light is generated directly in the LEDs in various colours – this means there is no need to use colour filters which cause signifi- cant losses in conventional light sources. In addition, different- coloured LEDs can be com- bined and controlled in a cluster in order to generate mixed col- ours or dynamically changing coloured sequences (RGB tech- nique).
