Installation in outdoor areas

Wiring in outdoor areas and damp locations

Protected connection is required for safe, long-term operation in outdoor areas or damp loca- tions. Cable glands must be securely tightened and only suit- able cables should be used (e.g. H07RNF). One of the main problems that has to be over- come is the partial vacuum that builds inside the luminaire as it cools down after it is switched off. This produces a suction effect that draws moisture through the above-mentioned problem areas into the lumi- naire. In order to allow operation using standard tools, Zumtobel offers special accessory parts that are described below. The cable ends are inserted and sealed in the terminals in the same way as with a cable gland. This connection can be disconnected at any time in order to replace the circuit board unit. This cable connector makes it possible to secure feed lines on an internal terminal block using screw terminals. The terminal blocks are designed for a maxi-mum core cross-sectional area of 4 mm² and up to 3 strands. This small IP67 junction box allows pressurised-water-tight connection of up to three suita- ble feed lines (H07RNF, etc.) for through-wiring outside a lumi- naire unit. It can be used as an alternative to self-bonding tape or splice sleeves. IP67 “Mini” universal box – 60 800 432 IP67 cable connector 4 mm² –60 800 343 IP67 cable connector – 60 800 175 IP67 universal box – 60 800 235 The IP67 universal box is used in combination with the small PASO II S luminaire in damp locations or outdoor areas. A secure location for external con- trol gear, suitable cables can be through-wired or cross-wired to terminals for cable diameters of 0.8 to 2.5 mm. Provides ade- quate protection for halogen transformers or LED power units.
