27 Medical gases Central connection Up to three different media can be carried in the VE-L section for technical gas supply. The pipes are housed in a separate outer duct with snap-on cover. The duct provides sufficient space for three copper pipes. The lines of the medical supply unit and of the building’s wiring system are connected separate- ly from each other to the central feed point. The feed point is located at the start of the medi- cal supply unit. Supply from the building can be connected at the rear or on the front. VE-L can be fitted with any common communications equipment. System units of bed-side-operated equipment for selecting radio programmes, night calls and nurse emergency calls are completely wired and assembled at the factory. VE-L is also available with tele-phone sockets on request. Mains-power components VE-L makes it possible to fit system components that meet an extremely wide range of local-ly applicable national require-ments, e.g.:• Safety sockets • Switches, momentary-action switches, dimmers• Equipotential bonding pin, flush-mounted version (to DIN 42801).
