TECTON N NT N ENNEEN 1
Materials subjected to hardnesstest arious materials were subjectedto practical testing in order todetermine the best material for
the enclosure of the enclosedTECTON modular luminaire.Performance when exposed to
flying sparks during spot wel-ding and grinding were exami-ned. This was achieved by
mounting the test pieces verti-
cally 26 cm from the centrelineof the electrode or the grindingpoint. After the tests, the test
pieces were cleaned, and PMMAproved to be the toughest of thematerials on test. Safety glass Polycarbonate PMMA
Burn marks after spot welding – thesame applies to speckles after grin-
ding – are clearly visible and cannot
be scratched off by using a fingernailor scraper. Splashes on the lightly soiled surfacecannot be removed without leaving
residues after spot welding. Speckles
caused by grinding have burnt in andremain adherent. All heat marks and splashes afterspot welding as well as grinding can
be wiped off without leaving any resi-
due.

Individual car components areassembled in the assembly area.Illuminance in excess of 500 lux
and perfect glare control are ab-solutely crucial to ensure thatwork is safe and efficient. Lumi-
naire soiling in such areas is not
as extreme as in pressing orduring shell construction, butassembly does release dust and
ambient dirt. Enclosed luminaireshelp achieve improved maintain-ability. Lamps and light directing
components stay cleaner longerand provide lighting quality at aconstantly high level.
