The symbiosis of culturaltradition, ecological respon-sibility and cutting edgetechnology tunes the traveller
in to the special characterof
Lanzarote. Tubis emphasizes
this to the full.
The work of landscapearchitect Cesar Manrique
wasdevoted to preserving
thetopographical uniqueness
of the volcanic island of
Lanzarote. Architect Francisco
Pérez Marsá designed the
airport in line with this
tradition too. > Tubis.Sustainable and appealing. Every location in the world is different; ithas its own identity. Unforgettable impres-sions may be created through the interplay
of surroundings, buildings and furniture.
Tubis seating elements are convincing dueto their distinct character which does notcompete with existing architecture. On
thecontrary: they create an unmistakable
identity when combined with building and
spatial structures. That is why the durable quality of Tubisisas important as its design. Legs and
supporting building beams are finished as clear
cylindrical forms in high-quality aluminiumprofile. The graceful die-cast connectingbeams give the horizontal supporting
beams an appearance of visual lightness.
Front and back legs are mechanicallyconnected to die-cast aluminium latticedspacer rails. The upholstery is mounted onaremovable frame and attached to seat
shells in perforated, anticorrosion treated
and powder coated sheet steel. Most importantly: all functional elementsand components are fixed in the grooves of
the supporting beams in accordance with a
coherent assembly principle. This allows
side tables furniture, seat shells, armrests or footreststo be disassembled easily and reconfiguredas required. What is more: should single
components become unsightly after years
of extreme wear and tear, they may be
exchanged at reasonable cost. 4 >
