12, 13 Treat yourself to a whirlpool bath. But never just any old whirlpool... Whirlpool bath Water and air: ingredients for relaxation > For an effect that’s... perfect A body full of vigour, skin with suppleness and tone, an untroubled mind. Who would say no? Given a healthy lifestyle, only a whirlpool bath can deliver so many benefits in a single product. The combination of air and water in movement acts like a beauty treatment: improving circulation of the blood and stimulating cell metabolism. It helps drain away excess fluids and has a smoothing and relaxing effect on the skin. > A whirlpool bath relaxes and revitalizes, but to obtain the maximum benefits it will be advisable to follow a few simple steps.• Before starting, for example, the skin should be given an exfoliating scrub to remove dead cells and “prepare the ground”, as it were, for what is an authentic beauty treatment.• Since the water massage is above all an aid to relaxation, the best time to take a whirlpool bath is after sport or physical exercise, or before going to bed. Never take a whirlpool bath on a full stomach, or before food has been properly digested. A whirlpool bath can be taken daily if so desired.• The temperature should always remain constant, preferably at about 37 degrees Centigrade.• As for duration, the optimum length of a session is around 15/20 minutes.• The whirlpool offers benefits for everyone. Nonetheless, individuals affected by particular illnesses or disorders should seek medical advice before taking a whirlpool bath.• After a whirlpool session, maximum well-being will be experienced by wrapping up in a warm bathrobe and reclining for 10 minutes or so, then applying a good moisturizing cream to the skin. Stimulation for all five senses Air bubbles mingled with the stream of water envelop the whole body and produce agreeable effects on all the five senses, bringing about a total relaxation of the muscles and the mind. Compression and decompression of the body tissues has the effect of releasing endorthins, natural substances in the body which act on the nerve fibres, inducing pleasurable sensations and relieving tension. Whirlpool: the definition The whirlpool bath is a type of massage in which air and water are mixed together and directed in jets at the immersed body. The principle underlying the whirlpool bath is the alternating compression and decompression of skin tissue induced by the stream of air bubbles and water. It is therefore very important that the jet bosses should be adjustable for direction and rate of flow, so that the massaging action can be personalized. This way, the effects can be varied: from the caress of a gentle stream to the cascading impact of a waterfall. >
