Genuine clay plain tiles help to blend new or renovated buildings with local architecture and con-tribute to increase the real estate value. They also bring incomparable rhythm and volume to the
roof, thanks to their slight camber (laterally or longitudinally). These traditional shapes are also
appreciated because they block water ingress by capillarity. Technically, clay plain tiles are exclu-
sively laid on high-pitched roofs, from 35°up. They differ in size and thus in number per square
metre. The number of tiles per sq.m. varies between 26 and 70 depending on the model. The British
market distinguishes three types of clay plain tiles, depending on their manufacturing process and
