“A line is not just anelement connecting two points…

but the expression of one’s freedom”.

Continum

? Product We wanted to create a lighting fixture that had no limitsas to use, function or esthetics. We wanted to minimize the design to the utmost and work with it freely during the design phase. Those were our requirements. The visi- ble surface had to be minimal, while inside – in the hid- den part – we left free space for technology. The integra- tion of esthetics and technology was perfect. That is why we can say that we have created an object which, being a “technological-symbol”, goes beyond the definitions of “design object” and becomes a sophisticated design- planning tool. “A line that not only joins two points…but expresses thought – freely.”
Crash Restaurant, Rome, Italy. Photo Luigi Filetici. The main feature of CONTINUM is that it is a lighting fix-ture without a visible design. CONTINUM is a luminous symbol which, through its free composition, allows the designer to express his/her ideas of shape. It is a sort of metaphorical Ariadne’s thread. Freedom of expression and thought, infinite possibilities for creating, for play – these were the concepts behind CONTINUM. We believe that every design architect’s and desi- gner’s dream is to have a tool in hand that doesn’t say anything by itself – a body without design, but with a vast range of functional light sources that can fit into any architectural language according to his/her ideas, imagi- nation and “way of lights.”
