| | | Topko Hydro introduces a set of functions providing useful information about terrain morphology as far as the presence of water, simplyfying some of the procedures necessary to plan precautionary measures or other kinds of intervention. The same tools can be applied to the models of new projects, allowing to test the exactness of the project parameters, for example according to water downflow. Hydro is a Topko module integrating completely in Ceomatics Suite, so that it is possible to use it at any time on the data derived from elaborations performed by other modules. Maximum slope Triangle digital model can be represented by displaying, on each triangle, the direction of the maximum slope. A wide number of settings allow to display not only the slope direction arrow but also its value and angle. It is possible to set representation colours and fonts; the arrow can have either a fixed size or a length proportional to the slope. | | |
| | | Flat areas, minimum and maximum points The tool recognizes and represents the critical situations found in the model; in case of flat areas, it will point out whether they are hollow areas, summit areas, or mixed areas. Besides, it is possible to obtain the position of relative minimum and maximum points (peaks and pits). Valleys, ridges and tributaries Valleys and ridges inside the model considered can be displayed by some commands. Moreover, it is possible to obtain the display of all the main tributaries of the valleys. Interactive isohypses The isohypses passing by the point where the cursor is positioned can be verified interactively on the model; by moving the cursor on the model, the tool generates the corresponding contour line, so that it is possible to know, for example, the areas that would be covered in case of flow. | | Water path A command displays interactively the path followed by the water, starting from the position where the cursor is positioned; by moving the cursor on the model it is possible to verify the direction taken by the water. This function is particularly interesting, also for road design, since it allows to find out precisely the points where the water will gather. Volume calculation and simulation By Topko Hydro it is possible to simulate the watershed volume; the tool displays the areas covered by the water, calculates immediately total volume, flat areas and slope areas. The elevation can be set manually, otherwise an automatic procedure simulates the filling at the different elevations. Moreover, it is possible to set the volume and the tool will calculate the exact elevation reached by that amount of water. | | |
