Database definition
Tables of data can be created directly inside the tool and the types of attributes can be numeric, text, boolean, memo, date/time, links to external files, lists of options, references to other tables. For all attributes it is possible to set a default value, limit values and the type of insertion: compulsory, read only. In the insertion you can also specify whether you want the attribute to be displayed or not in data insertion/editing forms.
Besides the 1:1 relations between graphic objects and data, by using the wizard it is possible to set complex relations such as 1 :N and N:M (Master-detail). During the object insertion and editing phase the tool allows to display not only the data of the main table (Master) but also the data of secondary tables associated to the object (Detail).
Inside tables it is possible to create fields automatically showing the graphic properties of the object: area, length, centroid coordinates, elevation, etc. The field contents are always updated to the changes performed in the object.
Themes Management
The theme contains vectorial data referred to a particular situation (buildings, parcels, roads, etc.) and defines a relation with a table.
Inside the theme it is possible to specify the graphic parameters with which to draw the objects contained: layer, color, linetype, symbol, hatching.
In the graphic window on the left all the present themes are listed with the legend (if necessary) that allows to interpret the drawing of the map; from the list it is
possible to show or hide the theme contents and set the active theme.
Insertion/editing of data
The input of graphic and alphanumeric data is extremely rapid since the user has the possibility to define the requests performed by the tool during the graphic entity insertion phase; for example, you can define that the tool ask you to indicate the alphanumeric data of the graphic object inserted and to position the label
near it. It is possible to personalize toolbar buttons making them correspond to the insertion of data on a specific theme without having to activate the theme every time.
Each graphic object can be associated to a code which determines the features the object is displayed with: layer, color, linetype, symbol, filling. In this way, inside the same theme each object is displayed differently according to its code.
The database table can be filled in automatically according to the codes used during the surveying of topographic points; in fact, by using compound codes it is possible, for some attributes of the table, to fill in their contents automatically so that the database can be created in a totally automatic mode and without having to perform any manual insertion.
Queries
Queries can be performed not only on alphanumeric data by SQL type search criteria but, at the same time, also on the graphic properties of the object (layer, color, linetype) and on its position (inside an area, near a line, intersection, etc.). Queries can be saved in order to be performed when necessary.
Thematic maps
Creation of thematic maps according to attributes and information associated to the elements together with the automatic creation of the legend. Thematic maps can be performed on all the theme objects or only on those selected by a query.
Labels
Automatic and manual creation of labels on objects according to the value of the attribute; automatic updating of labels in case changes are made on attribute values.
