Rasta is the ideal solution for engineering, topography and cartography works which demand an easy management of big-size images. Rasta can be used to obtain hybrid raster-vectorial designs. Moreover, Rasta offers a procedure of automatic vectorization. | | | | | | | | | | Introduction Rasta is the solution offered by SierraSoft to obtain high-performance display, plotting, transformation, editing, mosaicing and georeferencing of black and white or color images. Rasta is an extremely useful tool for those who deal with territorial problems, since it allows to load on screen the existing paper maps and then perform their vectorization. Georeferencing procedure uses different kinds of transformations that can also be performed locally, eliminating the anisotropic deformations the sheet or the image can have gone through. For those interested in architectural recovery of historic centres, it is possible to load the pictures of the building fronts and then to carry out perspective rectification in order to draw, in a precise scale and through CAD functions, existing elements of particular interest. Inside Rasta a great number of functions is implemented, which allow to modify both the image geometric properties and its display. There are also cartography oriented functions, which allow to put together more images to form a single image (mosaicing) or to superimpose raster on raster keeping the Images separate but managing the transparencies as if they were glossy. Rasta and the CAD Rasta includes a professional CAD fully developed by SierraSoft where Topko (software for topography) and ProSt (software for road planning) too are developed. Rasta is not only a software for image display and elaboration but a complete tool, provided with all the drawing functions of a professional CAD. It is therefore possible to integrate raster images with entities like line, polyline, arc, circle, etc. and then to perform an hybrid print on a single sheet. The CAD available with Rasta Is equipped with a sophisticated bidirectional interface with AutoCAD which allows both writing and reading of DWG/DXF file, allowing a complete data interchange with DWG/DXF compatible CAD systems. Supported formats Rasta manages a wide range of raster formats, both for writing and reading, thus | | | | | | —Bj L,r.31 :a. ¡ dR I ■>.■ I = I m IB. | | | | | | | | | | .<* / / * r / % & X ü O _L n A ¿ + 0 r ^ a r « - ô tei ° 0 ' * J | | | | | | Pli Sfili | | | | | | Ci; ■ TI | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Loot in: [S» | | | | | | | | | | ]H 013.bmp j IHi y|Map2.tif P¡Í$ 014.bmp Castle, bmp SMap3.tif í§ 042.bmp Contour lin. a] Aerial image 1 .jpg _ Ji¡ Aerial image 2.JPG [M Map.lii | | | | | | | | | | setting the sequence of the image display and printing. Image management includes specific functions to control contrast and brilliance; for color raster the constant color gamma can be modified. Digitizing on video Loaded images can always be used together with all the drawing functions of graphic CAD; digitizing on video grants more precision because, through zooms on the images, it is possible to observe in a better way the details to be vectorized; images can be made visible or Invisible, according to the one's needs. Georeferencing In order to work on raster map in real coordinates, a georeferencing procedure is available. This procedure applies to the Image shifts and distortions in order to resample it to real coordinates, thus filling the right geographical space. Thanks to georeferencing, it is possible both to overlap the image to a cartography and to perform its vectorization on screen. | | | | | | allowing the acquisition of images from all kinds of sources: scanner (through Twain drivers for Windows 95/98/NT/2000), digital cameras, black and white or color aerial photographs, images from satellite. Some of the available formats are: TIFF, GIF, BMP, JPEG, TARGA, Photo CD, PCX with any number of colors. The loaded image can be saved in a format different from the original; moreover, to optimize the space, also a "compressed-mode" management of raster formats Is available. The whole stream of image acquisition-management-printing is therefore managed by one tool. Easy displaying of images Importing images into Rasta is a very easy procedure. Display, zoom and pan are extremely fast also with big-size images. Rasta allows to display grey-scale, color or monochromatic images of any size and resolution. Monochromatic images can be made "transparent", to allow a raster on raster superimposition, with the possibility of | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Raster images management O | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
