Un mattone di vetro l’immagine di Buddha in posizione meditativa.La realizzazione del disegno sulla superficie vetrata avviene infase di seconda lavorazione del mattone, dopo la sua cottura in forno, attraverso l’utilizzo di una speciale mascherina pro- tettiva applicata prima di immergere il blocco in un “bagno” di satinatura, con l’effetto finale di giochi e contrasti di chia- roscuri tra superficie trattata opaca e superficie originale tra- sparente.Un procedimento rapido dal risultato sorprendente, che aprela strada a nuovi utilizzi decorativi del materiale, in sintonia con le specificità di ogni progetto. In questo contesto, infatti, l’immagine applicata diventa non solo il motivo estetico ca- ratterizzante l’opera, ma permette esternamente l’imme- diata leggibilità della sua funzione religiosa, ottenendo all’in- terno un’atmosfera rarefatta ed evocativa, propizia alla lettura ed alla meditazione. Tailor Made , in grado di attenuare laluce diretta del sole e proiettare allo stesso tempo magiche figure nello spazio - una miriade di piccoli Buddha concen- trati in preghiera.Per la nuovissima “Buddha Lecture Room”, biblioteca reli-giosa progettata a Taichung (Taiwan) dall’architetto Daniel Tai – la cui realizzazione è prevista entro la fine del 2008 – Se- ves ha fornito 9.700 mattoni di vetro di cui 1.800 persona-lizzati con un disegno richiesto ad hoc dal progettista: A glass block Tailor Made capable of softening direct sun-light while reflecting a magical myriad of small Buddhas in prayer.For the new "Buddha Lecture Room", a religious library in Tai-chung, Taiwan, designed by modern architect Daniel Tai and curren- tly under construction, Seves supplied 9,700 glass blocks of which 1,800 were customized with an ad hoc design re-quested by the architect. The image chosen was of theBuddha in a meditative position.The design is imprinted on the glass block surface during thesecond phase of the manufacturing process, when the glass is in molten, liquid form. Using a special protective mask, which is applied beforehand, the glass block is dipped in a "bath" of frosting to accentuate the interplaying contrasts and chiaroscuros between the opaque treated surface and the original transparent surface of the block.This quick procedure leaves a lasting effect and gives the glassblock new decorative possibilities that can be customized to a particular project. In this case, the image of the Buddha be- comes not only the aesthetic motif that characterizes the buil- ding, but it also communicates the immediate legibility of its religious function externally, while obtaining an attenuated and evocative atmosphere internally, one that is propitious to reading and meditation.
