OKALUX Light Diffusing Insulating Glass
The challenge for OKALUX Light Diffusing Insulating Glass: to make daylight useful. With a translucent capillary slab covered with glass fibre tissues in the cavity, OKALUX achieves ? optimum, uniform light transmittance into the room, irrespective of irradiation conditions ? light transmission and total solar energy transmittance as required ? very good colour rendering ? good heat insulation ? outstanding sound insulation ? UV protection as required ? attractive appearance in daylight and in artificial light >
Technical Data Heat and sound insulation
The capillaries prevent heat transmission in the cavity, not only with respect to convection but also in terms of heat radiation. The particular geometry of "OKAPANE" capillary material means that an improvement in thermal insulation through greater layer thicknesses does not lead to any appreciable reduction in light transmission. In the triple glazing version (product version "OKALUX-K"), U-values of up to 0.8 W/(m²K) (0.14 Btu/hr/ft >
2 /°F) can be achieved. Further synergies become apparent in the field of sound insulation. Capillary slabs uncouple the panes of the insulating glass and absorb the sound. The following information applies for build-ups with a 6 mm outer pane and a laminated glass inner pane of 8 mm. Capillary slab (mm) 8 12 16 20 24 U >
