GROUND INJECTION NEEDLE Direct system for pipe injection Injection pipe for sleeve Concept The CONSOLIDASOL system consists in the use of foundation piles (PIS) , drilled at a distance of 1 m to 1,5 m from each other , to inject a special mineral grout in the soil under a construction foundation . Mise en oeuvre The pipe reinforcement , used as injection pipe for the grout, is made of HR or stainless steel , perforated in its lower part , the length of which varies between 1 to 6 m and the diameter of which is 22mm . The upper sleeved part of the PIS , going through the foundation structure , is injected using a plastic pipe around the reinforcement to bind the pile with the above construction . A stopper is created in the borehole avoiding the grout overflow . Applications The CONSOLIDASOL is used in underpinning of existing foundations to provide a stable and waterproof ground layer in the underneath soil and at the same time transfer loads to a more resistant ground layer . It is particularly used to reinforce industrial rafts founded on poor quality ground. CONSOLIDASOL can be used in any type of grounds including in immersed environments. The PSI resistance to pulling and bending is good thanks to its filled pipe reinforcement and the good adherence between the mineral grout and the reinforcement on one side and the existing structure on the other side. The closing plate at the head of the pile allows a good interfacing with the above construction. Investigations THE GROUND In any case , the design is based on a geotechnical survey of the soil. It should determine : - the type of underneath soil , its nature , the thicknesses and depths of the various layers as well as environmental factors that influence it (existence of expanding clay) - the presence of water even temporary and of any kind of pollution, - the contingency of creeping soil. Penetration tests are required to determine the specifications of the underground in different locations on site. At the engineer’s request and according to the size of the construction site , loading as well pulling tests shall be performed on the PIS to check the quality of their performances.
