Marble,Granite,Onyxand other stones General information

As specialist importers of stone, Limestone Gallery is keenly attuned to thechanging demands of its clients. We have found that people are re-discovering the colourful side of stone. A visit to Limestone Gallerys showroom now includes a vibrant display of marble, onyx, granite, slate and basalt to complement thecompanys extensive range of limestone. The new range extends from theclassical white Carrara, through reds, greens, golds, browns and absolute black. The company has established an exclusive supply of Azul Macaubas, a highly prized premium blue stone from Brazil. All the materials can be honed to provide a matt polish if desired. In manyinstances this softens the tone and gives the material a new slant for designpurposes. We are constantly introducing new stones to our collection and willsource any stone you may require.

Sealing To improve stain resistance stone should be sealed. At Limestone Gallery we prefer the non film-formingsealants which do not affect the look of the stoneand allow the stone to breathe. Specialist sealants have been developed for kitchen worktops that are highly effective. Nevertheless care must be takenwith acid or oil based products. Maintenance Once the stone has been installed and sealed, careis relatively low. As a general rule the lighter and less marked stones require more attention. Ideally, floors should be swept daily to remove dirt and grit.Periodic mopping with a proprietary stone cleanershould be sufficient. From time to time it may be necessary to scrub the floor with a stiff bristled brush to remove dirt accumulated in the pores. Forlocalised dirt use the stone detergent with a nylonbrush or soft scouring pad. Most stains which occur can be removed with special chemicals.
