Just as this historical city is one of the liveliest during Carnival period, the light series is designed to offer an awe-inspiring decorative item. Iris footed it around flea markets seeking out and photographing ornamental garden chandeliers. Armed with the knowledge that most people cannot afford such a luxury. Iris used her creative genius to bring the seemingly unaffordable into every person's home. Iris took her photographs of four ornate chandeliers and made them into special cover panels furniture. Behind the chandelier facades she placed a simple, inexpensive neon light. "I dressed the neon as a chandelier," she says, matter-of-factly. Just as people doll up for the Carnival in Olinda. The result is distinctive. When the Olinda light is hung from the ceiling supplier, it is as if one is looking up at the underneath of an extravagant chandelier.
