After training as a furniture Designer/Maker at Sheridan College he established his own design practice Stuart McQuarrie Design in Toronto in 2006, where he has developed furniture, products and lighting. Stuart McQuarrie creates furniture widely described as austere and minimalist. What sets him apart from others is his straightforward, sensible approach to design and his ability to express an uncomplicated use of form and materials.
