General product information
The perfect technical solution isof highest priority for HELIOS.
Experience and consistent development of ideas and
methods has resulted in world
wide acceptance of HELIOS products.Research and development arereflected in an extensive productrange which offers the technical
solution for most applications.
HELIOS is also your partner if
more sophisticated specials arerequired. The combination of thelatest technology with the hig-
hest quality and design lead to
many product advantages like:–Economical operation throughhigh efficiency products. Impel-lers and motors were developed
in house and are perfectly tuned
for each other. –Highest reliability even undertoughest working conditions isgained by use of impregnated
windings, sealed for life ball bearings, quality checks etc.–Economic adjustment of performance through speed controllable motors using transformer or electronic speed
controllers.–Innovative aerodynamical designof parts and components.–Low noise levels make HELIOSfans some of the quietest availa-
ble.–Easy installation and maintenancefree operation in combinationwith highest electrical and
mechanical safety standards are
most beneficial for installer and
user. Design of HELIOS motors Electrical data Voltage, frequency, current,
absorbed or nominal motor
power, protection class and the
wiring diagram number for the
fan can be found in the fan’s
data table.
The figures relate to normal operating conditions (density –Casing made of aluminium orcast iron, totally enclosed with
cooling fins. Protection class:
see individual model.–Bearings: maintenance free (sealed for life) and dust proof
through double lip sealing. Lubrication graded from -40 to+140 °C.–Full immersion, tropical moistureprotection to windings, insulation
class B. Ï = 1.2 kg/m Operation of fans Motors Factors which are individual to
each installation have an influence
on the fan’s performance as well
as the electrical and mechanicalsafety. Before installation/use of fan and
accessories, the operation and
requirements of the fan system
must be clarified. The equipmentmust not be used for purposesfor which it is not intended. Fans make special demands on motors. Therefore HELIOS
develop and manufacture many
of their own motors, especially
the speed controllable models. This guarantees optimal matching to the fan’s needs.
This results in a range of specia-
lised drives serving the individual
fan’s requirement.This guarantees for example:–Superb speed control
–Low consumption
–Low maintenance
–Trouble free operation evenunder difficult conditions. –Conformance to all relevantregulations likeVDE 0530 and
0700, DINIEC 2J and IEC 61. >
3 , temperatureT = 20 °C, 50 Hz).
The actual figures may vary
depending on the installationconditions. When installing theequipment the electrical figures
stated on the rating plate must
be observed.
For other environmental condi-tions, in particular at low tempe-ratures, an increase in the current and power figures can
be expected. This needs to be
considered when sizing the
electrcial supply (wires, contac-tors, circuit breakers). If in doubtconsult HELIOS. All other motors used byHELIOS are manufactured toIEC standard and conform withall relevant regulations. Theirspecification may vary. Specialsare available on request. Performance curves Technical data (power, noise
figures, etc.) are stated in accor-dance with DIN24166 ‘Technicalconditions of sale’, tolerance
classes 2 or 3, DIN44974, Pt.1-3 ‘electrical domestic appliances’, DINVDE0700. Noise levels Noise figures are given as A rated sound power levels
and/or sound pressure levels at
a distance of 1 or 4 metres. The levels are illustrated in theperformance curves and fandata tables. The sound pressure levels are for
freefield conditions and may be
affected by reflections of wallsetc. The figures relate to thedetails given in chapter ‘perfor-
mance data’ and are in accor-
dance with DIN 24166. Installa-
tion conditions may increasenoise levels, in some cases substantially.
If no other references are made,
the noise levels represent the air
noise on the intake. All figureswere measured in accordancewith DIN 45635, Part 38.
The Air performance Available pressure and air flow
volume are stated in performancecurves on the individual productpages. All performance data is determi-ned on test stands to DIN24163, Pt.2. and Pt. 3. Air flow volume and staticpressure total pressure ∆ p ∆ p >
stat. for air flowdirection A(at free intake and
extract) are measured.
The >
tot is calculated by adding the dynamic

dyn. (from the crosssectional area). Ducted fans are measured witha bell mouth on the intake andducting of 1 diameter of the fanin length attached on the outlet. If the installation varies from this(obstructions, bends, etc.) areduction in performance mustbe taken into account.
