Living walls are natural air-filters, creating a cleaner and more invigorating work environment. Studies shows that this leads to better overall employee health and productivity. One of the lesser known benefits of living walls is that the system reduces noise. Plants have been used, throughout the world, to reduce noise along roads and highways. Living walls naturally block high frequency sounds while the supporting NOISE LEVEL REDUCTION of air between the plants and the wall. The living wall system structure can help to diminish low frequency noise. Our living walls act as extra insulation and trap with a layer reduce noise levels by reflecting, refracting as well as absorbing acoustic energy.

Our projects are always customised in order to find the perfect solution for any space. Greenworks designs and provide structures, irrigation- and lighting systems for any particular site. 1^1 The capillary textile, made of recycled clothes, is optimal allowing roots to spread across the entire wall. This is the basis for not just getting plants on a wall, but literally a SUSTAINABLE vertical garden. The sustainable board we use is waterproof and supports the vegetal system. Greenworks use SYSIEM engineered panels made from 100% recycled plastics.

This gives us a number of different zones on each wall. From this point the design and plant choice is made and the irrigation is calibrated accordingly.

The maintenance of Vertical Gardens is strongly linked to plant choice, technical solutions and lightning. Our incentive is to create living walls that last over decades. Maintenance is not only about maintaining the wall, it is also about finding out how the wall are doing in a proactive way. We offer a remote management system of the living walls that measures nutrition levels, amount of water, pH /EC, moisture and temperature. We use the right plant on the right spot to ensure low maintenance vertical gardens.

The outdoor wall is highly dependent on what kind of effect the customer wants. In general perennials require more maintenance than evergreen plants. Outdoor walls in our climate zone have distinct seasons, normally we do service twice a year, spring and autumn. The use of remote management systems is extra important for exterior walls. Monitoring our living walls enables us to make necessary adjustments to irrigation and nutrition levels.

Plants appreciate full spectrum light because it resembles natural sunlight. It’s crucial to choose a good quality light source with high colour rendering index. In terms of lightning there is both the aspect of ambiance, what the architect is looking to create as well as the plants need.
