Installation and maintenance
General installation rules
The general installation rules for Glaverbel insulating glazing apply to Thermobel Stopray. Please consult the Glaverbel brochure entitled Glazing Instructions and the MyGlaverbel.com website. >
Installation as structural glazing
Thermobel Stopray insulating glazing is also available in a version for use in structural glazing facades. The glazing seal is made of silicone; its size depends on various fac-
tors, such as the size of the glazing, the pressure/under-
pressure exerted on it, etc.For more information, please consult Glaverbel’s brochure on structural glazing in order to:
• define all of the information needed to correctly specify this kind of glazing;• collect all the information needed for installing this kind of glazing. When Thermobel Stopray is used in structural glazing, the coating must be edge-stripped across the entire length of the part that comes into contact with the sealing com-
pound (silicone). The glazing seal will therefore be visible from the outside of the building at a level equal to that of the edge-stripped area. >

Thermal stress
Thermal stress is more important for a solar-control glaz-ing than for a clear glass due to its higher level of energy absorption. However, due to their energy reflection prop-
erties, most Thermobel Stopray glasses are less likely to break from thermal stress than many other solar-control glasses.Nevertheless, this risk cannot be neglected. We therefore recommend contacting Glaverbel’s Technical Depart-
ment, which can give you the help you need based on the information you provide (see the document on calculating thermal stress). >
Glazing maintenance
Maintaining Thermobel Stopray insulating glazing assem-
bled in frames is easy, requiring no particular precautions since the coating faces the interior of the Stopray insulat-
ing glazing unit. >
Spandrels
Various solutions are available:
• Enamelled Colorbel glass;
• Thermobel Stopray insulating glazing with blackpearlWhen used in spandrels, Thermobel Stopray must always be heat-treated to prevent the risk of breakage due to thermal stress. When used in spandrels, Thermobel Stopray insulating glazing is always supplied in the following configuration:
• Toughened or heat-strengthened Stopray outer pane;• 9 mm gap;• 8 mm toughened or heat-strengthened Blackpearl inner pane.We recommend using the same thickness for the outer and inner pane of the Thermobel Stopray spandrel. Color har-
mony is best assessed on-site using samples of sufficent size. >
Quality standards
All glazing sometimes present minor imperfections visible under specific circumstances. Such imperfections must be viewed as inherent to the product and the production method used. The rules set out in standard EN 1096 apply. >
