Large rooms

Application.

Most large rooms have several windows, often widely spaced from each other. The most economical way to protect large rooms with multiple windows is with a single, long-range acoustic sensor. However, be careful to match sensor range to room size. If the sensor range extends beyond the room boundaries it is vulnerable to false alarms.

Installation.

Use a 5812NT ShatterPro 3 or a 5802A Recessed ShatterPro II to protect large glass areas and up to four walls of glass. To protect glass on more than one wall, mount the sensor on the ceiling ( Figure19 ). Make sure that all protected glass is within the sensor’s coverage pattern. The distance from the bottom of the window to the sensor must be no more than the sensor’s maximum range. To protect one wall of glass, mount the sensor on the opposite wall (if all protected glass is within the sensor’s range). See Acoustic sensor testing with the 5709C on page6.
