Windows with film
Application.
Film is applied to windows for a variety of reasons. In sunny climates some commercial windows have a tinting film attached to the glass. Some commercial windows have a plastic film attached to the glass to prevent shattering from impact or bullets. This armor-coated glass can be found in bank drive-up windows, in retail stores, and in other vulnerable buildings. >
Installation.
Tinted film does not affect shock sensors. To mount shock sensors on the glass, cut away the film where the sensor will be placed so that the mounting tape is affixed to the glass itself and not to the film ( Figure17 ).Armor-coated glass may reduce shock sensor range. Thoroughly test shock sensors (see Shock sensor testing on page8) to see if additional sensors are needed. >
Recommended products.
Any GE shock sensor, as long as the installation guidelines are followed. >
